Jarred Benater

Jarred Benater is a banking and finance lawyer based in Melbourne and has been practising for over 14 years (including five years in Johannesburg, South Africa). Jarred’s experience includes acting for lenders and borrowers in relation to general corporate lending, property and construction finance, project finance, and acquisition and leveraged finance.

Jarred has acted for the major Australian banks, US, European and Asian banks, Australian superannuation funds and non-bank lenders along with borrowers including developers, renewable energy companies, theme park operators, travel agencies and healthcare companies.

Jarred joined Mills Oakley in May 2024 from a major Australian bank and prior to that he had been with top and mid tier firms in Australia and South Africa.

  • Acted for ANZ in providing finance for the purpose of funding various specialist disability accommodation projects in Western Australia
  • Acted for Luna Park Sydney Pty Ltd in borrowing funds for the purpose of funding its Luna Park Sydney Ride Replacement Program
  • Acted for Westpac Banking Corporation in providing finance for the purpose of funding the development of the Focus Apartments development in Southbank, Melbourne
  • Acted for Macquarie Bank Limited and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited in providing finance for the purpose of acquiring the majority of shares in HCL International Pty Ltd
  • Acted for Webjet Limited in borrowing funds for the purpose of acquiring the Destinations of the World Group
  • Acted for Macquarie Corporate Holdings Pty Limited and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in providing finance for the purpose of developing the ACT Law Courts
  • Acted for National Australia Bank Limited, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and REST in providing finance for the purpose of developing the WA Schools Project
  • Acted for National Australia Bank with refinancings in respect of the Cathedral Rocks Wind Farm project and the Woolnorth Bluff Point and Studland Bay Wind Farms
  • Acted for Australia and New Zealand Banking group Limited, BNP Paribas, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, ING Bank (Australia) Limited, National Australia Bank Limited and Natixis in providing finance for the main purpose of acquiring CDC Group Holdings Pty Ltd (which operates in the data centre industry)
  • Acted for Accident Compensation Corporation, ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited, China Construction Bank (New Zealand) Limited, DZ Bank AG, United Overseas Bank Limited and Westpac New Zealand Limited in providing finance for the purpose of funding the Puhoi to Warkworth Motorway Project.
