Robert Csillag is a Special Counsel with 12 years’ experience in litigation specialising in professional indemnity, complex coverage disputes, construction/engineering and financial lines.

He maintains a broad insurance practice defending professionals across a wide range of industries. He has practised in national and international law firms and acted for Australian, UK and US-based insurers and their insureds in high value litigated and unlitigated matters.

Robert appreciates that no two matters are the same and takes time at the outset of every matter to fully understand the particular circumstances and concerns of his clients to enable him to develop a roadmap to a resolution that is in their best interests.

Recent Projects

  • Acted for an insured real estate agent defending a claim for over $10m in the Supreme Court of New South Wales which concerned allegations of misleading or deceptive conduct and negligence.
  • Advised various Lloyds Underwriters on coverage in respect of multiple claims concerning a multi-national insured engineering firm.
  • Acted for a structural engineer in respect of a claim valued at over $5m concerning alleged breaches of the Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020.
  • Successfully defended proceedings in the Supreme Court of New South Wales seeking to join an insurer to the proceedings in place of an insured certifier in liquidation.
